The Ein Shemer apple along with the Anna apple were developments in Israel by researchers who were looking for an apple tree that would produce fruit in a very hot climate-requiring little chilling hours. There two jewish apples have been found to be perfect producers even down to central and lower Florida where apple production was previously unknown.
